This picture was taken on Monday January 17th, 2011 at 12:30PM. We had a very warm and rainy period in the Mountain Home area for the last 7 days so I was looking for a paved road to walk my dog. The Bennett Road area seemed like a good place to look for an uncrowded place to walk the dog off-lease and a place I didn’t have to slog through mud.
What I Found
This sagebrush landscape was obviously extremely moist and sloppy with all dirt roads in the area covered in standing water. The Bennett Road Extension, being paved, offered me a great place to enjoy the warm and sunny weather. My dog enjoyed the road but made many trips out into the BLM and State lands on either side of the road.
There were a few times good old Addie the Plott Hound sunk pretty deep into the muck and mud but I believe she didn’t mind too much. As far as traffic on this road? The beginning of this walk saw much traffic. We encountered 12 or 13 trucks within the first 15 minutes of the walk and then no vehicles in the last 1.5 hours. Overall, this area offers a pretty good place to get away from it all when the landscape is just too muddy to hike on.
Comments? Lets hear what you have to say about this Mountain Home Idaho Photo of the Day. Am I a fantastic photographer of what?
Thanks,
