Mountain Home Voting for Signs or People

  • “I’ve known her for years. Vote for her.”

Mountain Home Voting for Signs or People

The campaign signs are everywhere now. Heck, I even saw one on the semi remote Prairie Cut-off road on Monday October 13th, 2008. But who are all these people running for local political offices? The names on the signs are a blur in my mind and will likely be on November 4th, 2008 when it comes time for me to cast my ballot. Do I have to vote along political lines…if that is even possible in local politics? Do I vote for the person who has the most trustworthy name?

Who Are You and What do You Stand For?
As I am writing this article I know of only one race that the candidates have made their platform fully and completely public. That is the Western Elmore County Recreation District Board of Directors race. The two candidates have websites.

1. Leanna Whitney

2. Molly Marsh

Because both these women have websites I can read all about their thought and facts. I can even put a face to the name on election day.

As for my knowledge of any other candidate in Mountain Home and Elmore County? I know nothing about these candidates other than they have a blue or red sign planted in some vacant lot along American Legion Boulevard.

Some Help is on the Way
Thanks to a fine lady on the Banter Box section of the Mountain Home News website who answered my plea for information. “Senior Lady” actually contacted the Elmore County administration offices and found out their website will be updated by October 17th, 2008 with a sample ballot. But…

But “Senior Lady” also points out that I will have to do some research to find out about all the candidates for the local General Election. She suggested I should watch the Mountain Home Newspaper for information. I will do this….but again…

But what if I cannot get the information I need from the local newspaper to make an informed decision on election day??

Let Your Fingers Do the Campaigning

With about 19 days left before I head to the voting booth, any local city/county candidate who is interested in my vote can call me. I would love to hear from any candidate. Call me at 208-639-1632 after 6:00PM and I will gladly listen to what you have to say.

If you don’t have the time to call me, then use the “Contact Us” links on the left or top menu and let me know why you are the best candidate.
