On August 24, 2010 a commercial truck driver on Interstate 84 witnessed a UFO flying over Mountain Home. Why doesn’t this surprise me? Here’s their story but I just want to add my part to this story.
The date is August 23rd, 2010. I was driving home from Mountain Home Air Force Base around midnight. There was a full moon and the skies were clear as a bell. At about the halfway mark between the City and the Base, I saw two lights off in the distance that seem to be northeast of Mountain Home. One light appeared to stationary and the other light in the sky was definitely moving. I kept an occasional eye on these lights not thinking much of them. I knew the 366th Fighter Wing at Mountain Home AFB was hosting a group of F-22 and F-5 fighters for an exercise of some sort and figured they were “playing” around before landing.
As I got closer to the City of Mountain Home, I could see one light in the sky was flying rather erratically and seemed to be getting brighter and then dimmer in a rapid fashion. The other light in the sky appeared anchored in the same spot east of Bennett Mountain or further to the north. I was now rather close to the municipal airport in town and the one light was getting lower and lower each second. Then I lost sight of the light just as I past the entrance to the airport. Then our local LifeFlight helicopter appeared over Airbase Road right in front of me as it headed for its helipad at the airport. The other light northeast of town was…of course a star or a planet.
What Does This All Mean?
I’m not saying what the commercial truck driver on Interstate 84 saw was or wasn’t a UFO. I just know I was a little unsure of what I was seeing. But I was hoping…hoping to see one of the USAF’s newest and advanced fighters land at the Mountain Home Airport. I was disappointed and I suspect the trucker will be once they find out the real story. They may have to wait 20 years for a the “official Air Force” report becomes unclassified or they can think the situation through and know there was likely a lot of fighters from the Base in the area at the time.
