It looks like our current Mountain Home Police Chief is moving on to greener pastures. There is opening for John Walter’s job posted on the City of Mountain Home website.

It will be weird not seeing this quiet man at the City Council Meetings in the future! I wish John good luck where ever he is heading.
Tornado Spotted Near Steele Mountain?
On Monday, June 6th, 2011 while I was out and about in Mountain Home, I looked south and saw a pretty mean looking thunderstorm in the distance. Being an old weather forecaster and lame tornado chaser, this cloud immediately struck me as a “non-Idaho” Midwestern type thunderstorm.
It turns out this cell or a cell spun off of this storm produced some severe weather as it tracked northward through Elmore County. The following are “Local Storm Reports” from the National Weather Service website.
