Have you been wondering when construction will start on the War Eagle Speedway in Elmore County Idaho? A project with such grand plans in our own backyard should be in the news more and more each day. But I haven’t heard anything about this project since August 2007.
Ask and You Shall Receive
I decided to ask around at the Mountain Home City Hall and the Elmore County Court House to see if our officials had any news. The news I received was that the developers, Northwest Motorsports Inc had let their Conditional Use Permit (Cup) on the land off Simco Road expire. From what I understand, once the CUP expires the land reverts back to the original owners.
Other Information on Northwest Motorsports
I decided to do some checking with the State of Idaho and ended up on the Idaho.Gov “Business Entity Search” website. It looks like Pamula K. Dugger and Robert P. Walker are still a business entity under the name of either Northwest Motorsports Llc or Northwest Motorsport INC.

My Guess
My guess is the War Eagle Speedway in Elmore County plan has been put on extended hiatus or the speedway plan is dead. That is not to say that that we will not have a NASCAR Race track near Mountain Home. But I do think it will be a long, long time before we see any construction on Simco Road or the roar of 750 horsepower cars circling the asphalt in Elmore County.
