July 2008 weather was nice

Boise Climate Summary – July 2008

What was the weather like in Boise during the Month of July as compared to historical weather data? I wish we had this data for Mountain Home but I think the Boise weather is close enough.

July 2008 weather was nice

No long periods of excessive heat this July…

A remarkable turn around in July 2008 with only one day of 100
degrees or more. This was in sharp contrast to July 2007 which had
14 days of 100 plus readings and July 2006 which had 13 of these
days. Even though July 2008 was a bit warmer than normal average
wise, it was a pleasant summer month overall with cool mornings
almost every day and highs in the 90’s. A few days had daytime high
temperatures only in the 80’s.

July also had some rain with a quarter of an inch recorded at the
Boise airport. This was very close to normal. On the 22nd, strong
thunderstorms erupted across the area producing hail, gusty winds
and heavy rain on the west side of Boise. There were several reports
of rainfall amounts up to a half inch falling in 15 to 30 minutes
time. These storms appeared to stay just below severe levels but
later that day the Twin Falls area was hit by several severe
thunderstorms causing considerable damage in some
locations.

Although July was comfortable temperature wise, there were several
days with poor air quality issues due to a persistent southwest flow
transporting smoke and haze from the extensive wild fires burning
over Northern and Central California.
