The Mountain Home Real Estate Market Hasn't Bottomed Out Yet?
Monday, September 6th, 2010 had me heading to Walmart for some much needed items. It looks like in the last 40 days plenty of houses in Mountain Home have been sold or taken off the real estate market. Back on July 18th, there were 12 homes for sale along my 2.7 mile route to Walmart. Now there are only 6 homes for sale! That, however was the only positive "good" news.

The bad news is the number of homes in what appears to be in "foreclosure" has increased from 2 homes in July to 4 properties in September. The only way I can determine if a home is in foreclosure is by the color of the lawn and a sign on the front door. So I could be wrong about these 4 homes?

But if we look at other data on the internet, we find the average listing price for homes has decrease by nearly $6,000 in the last month or so. Couple this data with the "fact" that we are entering the slow season (Fall and Winter) for real estate and this tells me we still haven't hit rock bottom. The buyer(less) market continues to be the trend in Mountain Home, Idaho. At least that is the way I see it. Your mileage may vary!
The Walmart Real Estate Trend Graph and Numbers

July 2, 2010 – 11 Homes for Sale
July 9, 2010 – 12 Homes for Sale
July 18, 2010 – 12 Homes for Sale
September 6, 2010 – 6 Homes for Sale
Trulia Agrees with my Walmart Real Estate Trend for Mountain Home?
In the last month the total numbers of homes for sale in Mountain Home has dropped from about 230 to 190 homes. Again this is a "good news-bad news" trend. The average listing price for these homes has also dropped from $169,000 down to $163,000.

Effective Use of Mountain Home Tax Monies – WECRD?
Idaho Political Posts - Mountain Home Political News
Last Updated on Monday, 30 August 2010 11:27 Written by Tim Bondy Monday, 30 August 2010 09:53
It appears as if the Western Elmore County Recreation District (WECRD) issue is heating up again. To me, the whole issue boils down to one question:

Question: Has the WECRD effectively used the tax money they have collected from the hard working citizens of Elmore County and Mountain Home, Idaho to build a community center?
Answer: In the opinion of Tim Bondy, the short and simple answer is NO!
No Shades of Gray When it Comes to MY Tax Money
In 2001-2002, tax monies started flowing into this project to build a community center. In 2010, the only thing the citizens have to show for their forced contributions is an empty plot of land and promises seeming made with fingers crossed.
That's 8-9 years of planning just to construct one building? Would you call this an effective use of your tax dollars?
Sit or Get off the Pot?
Obviously "the district" hasn't been a good steward of our tax money or we would already have something "concrete" to show for it. The time has come for the taxpayers of Elmore County to forcefully pull the the Western Elmore County Recreation District off the pot. Feelings may get hurt, fingers may get burned but this is MY tax dollars and I demand accountability. Who's with me on this issue?

UFO's Over Mountain Home Idaho?
Tims Tidbits - Miscellaneous Tidbits
Last Updated on Saturday, 28 August 2010 08:36 Written by Tim Bondy Saturday, 28 August 2010 08:24

On August 24, 2010 a commercial truck driver on Interstate 84 witnessed a UFO flying over Mountain Home. Why doesn't this surprise me? Here's their story but I just want to add my part to this story.
The date is August 23rd, 2010. I was driving home from Mountain Home Air Force Base around midnight. There was a full moon and the skies were clear as a bell. At about the halfway mark between the City and the Base, I saw two lights off in the distance that seem to be northeast of Mountain Home. One light appeared to stationary and the other light in the sky was definitely moving. I kept an occasional eye on these lights not thinking much of them. I knew the 366th Fighter Wing at Mountain Home AFB was hosting a group of F-22 and F-5 fighters for an exercise of some sort and figured they were "playing" around before landing.
As I got closer to the City of Mountain Home, I could see one light in the sky was flying rather erratically and seemed to be getting brighter and then dimmer in a rapid fashion. The other light in the sky appeared anchored in the same spot east of Bennett Mountain or further to the north. I was now rather close to the municipal airport in town and the one light was getting lower and lower each second. Then I lost sight of the light just as I past the entrance to the airport. Then our local LifeFlight helicopter appeared over Airbase Road right in front of me as it headed for its helipad at the airport. The other light northeast of town was...of course a star or a planet.
What Does This All Mean?
I'm not saying what the commercial truck driver on Interstate 84 saw was or wasn't a UFO. I just know I was a little unsure of what I was seeing. But I was hoping...hoping to see one of the USAF's newest and advanced fighters land at the Mountain Home Airport. I was disappointed and I suspect the trucker will be once they find out the real story. They may have to wait 20 years for a the "official Air Force" report becomes unclassified or they can think the situation through and know there was likely a lot of fighters from the Base in the area at the time.
Here is a link to a pdf version of the UFO report. Sometimes news stories like these disappear over time.
